DURF is back!
The acclaimed rules-light dungeon RPG is back and looking better than ever!

DURF Expanded is an updated and expanded version of DURF: the old-school-inspired dungeon tabletop RPG. It is written by Emiel Boven, who you might know from their work on other RPGs like The Electrum Archive or the upcoming Legacy or Kain RPG, and is edited by Ava Islam, co-author of The Electrum Archive and creator of Errant.
The original game has been available online for free under Creative Commons since 2021, and fostered an active community around it, resulting in a variety of third party adventures, supplements, and an annual game jam.

This new version of DURF is Emiel's love letter to that community and expands on the things found in the original little booklet. This 200-page hardcover book is the definitive version of DURF and like the original it is fully illustrated by Emiel. Its simple dungeon-fantasy core has been updated with more streamlined procedures for dungeoncrawling, overland travel, and magic, and has been expanded by a whole slew of appendices covering anything a GM might need!
The new rules have now been published for free as well and will be updated with new content as the full book gets finalized and illustrated! So go check those out if you're interested!

Emiel and Ava's Morrowind-inspired TTRPG The Electrum Archive is also available during the Kickstarter campaign!
Why DURF?
- Rules light, but with more meat to support longer campaigns compared to other rules light systems.
- Quick character creation. Roll up a new character in seconds after your last one kicked the bucket.
- Unique HD system. Ditching static Hit Points and instead rolling Hit Dice during combat keeps both players and the GM on their toes.
- Light Dice. Dungeon crawls are tense due to the use of a die pool rolled by the players, which determines how quickly torches burn out and if wandering monsters can be surprised.
- Deadly, old-school dungeon crawling, but colorful and whimsical instead of more sepia-toned grim dark.
- Compatible with other old-school adventures and modules for older editions of the famous dragon game.
- Open License. The whole game is licensed under Creative Commons so you can hack it and publish your own adventures and supplements to your heart’s content, or just enjoy the variety of adventures others have already created for it.
