Ada Press Games are pleased to announce the release of the barely anticipated OTHERSHIP, a demake of Tuesday Knight Games' modern space horror classic Mothership.

The new game boasts, according to it's FAQ, "an approximately 99% optimization on Mothership" by being only two pages long. The page also claims, confusingly, that "we're using less dice with smaller numbers, which I am led to believe is good for the environment."

The game takes the excellent Mothership system and boils it right down to a single Stress mechanic. Roll 1D6 over the current character stress, and your space scientist/mechanic/mercenary will achieve their goals, fail and, well, you've seen some of the Alien films right?

OTHERSHIP features an innovative, and frankly cute, two-page format. Players are encouraged to print the game file double-sided and fold it down into a landscape A6 zine format. This produces a small booklet that contains all the rules for the game inside, a cover which describe the setting, and a character sheet on the back. Then, then the book is unfolded, there is an entire starter space hulk to explore.

Christopher John Eggett, the designer of the game comments, "really this was just an experiment to see if I could fit a whole game on two sides of A4. Of course, it will come to nobody's suprise that I came up with the name first and let the joke go on a bit too long."

OTHERSHIP is designed to be played by one referee and one or more doomed space explorers.

"It's kind of a perfect convention game," says Chris, "which is why it's been released after all of the hobby's major conventions are over. But it'll still be good for Dragonmeet in December. It's quick, self contained, and if you printed a couple of character sheets and a blank map you could be playing this in the pub this evening."

The included starter adventure offers characters a great opportunity to die in space as they explore an ancient space hulk in search of treasure and glory. Naturally, during this adventure they may find that they're not entirely alone. The adventure also offers a fun 'push your luck' mechanic where players can explore an unmapped cargo hold to find the most valueable treasure.

The game is priced at $10 and available digitally from the Ada Press Itch page.

A version of the game is also being published in Wyrd Science issue 7.

If you're ready to die in space, but really realy efficiently, there's no better place to start.
