WHITE CITY is about Occult Investigators patrolling the 1893 World's Fair for supernatural threats. Imagine Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter meets The Alienist. It's like The Between or Call of Cthulhu set in Chicago's Gilded Age. Ask Annie Oakley to help hunt a monster, witness Scott Joplin create Ragtime, share an orange with Nikola Tesla as he draws a death ray.
Beyond the premise, this game is designed for busy people that lack time for campaigns. The rules are written for One Session Play, and this game is great for Walk-In Clubs, Conventions, Bar and Restaurant Gaming, as well as One Shot Pay to Play.
WHITE CITY draws on Powered by the Apocalypse, Forged in the Dark, and Carved from Brindlewood Bay to create a Pick Up and Play Game that can be start and finished in about three hours.
Character Creation walks you through simple fast choices, assign one point to your stats, pick a one sentence Core Move, read six sentences out loud and modify your character based on table input.
WHITE CITY comes with TEN different adventures. "Mission Cards" are handed out to everyone at the table. Like a Jazz Lead Sheet, these cards offer all the story beats a Table needs to collaboratively improvise a supernaturally themed procedural investigation.
WHITE CITY is for 2-8 players. It takes about 3 hours to start and finish a Mission.
Ten Missions offer about 30 hours of emergent game play, which means these adventures can be played over and over with different results every time.
