Trenchcoat Raccoons is a fast, fail-forward TTRPG of chaotic heists, cartoon logic, and glorious disaster. Each player controls one raccoon in a stack, all pretending to be one very suspicious human in a trenchcoat, stealing cursed loot in a world of glam horror, glittering galas, mad science, and cryptid conspiracies. Blending the slick heist energy of Sly Cooper, the chaotic camaraderie of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the paranormal absurdity of Gravity Falls into one stack of disaster raccoons, constantly derailed by their own wild impulses.

At its heart, Trenchcoat Raccoons is about creative problem solving and collaborative chaos. Players share a single trenchcoat persona called the Stack. One player takes the top and calls the shot, everyone rolls a d6 to help or hinder the main action, and the story always moves. Success pushes the plan forward. Setbacks add complications and new doors to open. The goal is pace, laughter, and a steady drumbeat of “we can still pull this off.”

Try It Out Right Now

The free Quickstart Guide includes all the rules you need to play with 3 players and a GM, along with a streamlined one-shot heist:Recipe for Disaster.

In it, the raccoons must infiltrate a fruit-themed gala, outwit a fruit-vampire CEO, and steal a mind-altering cocktail recipe before the whole party turns into euphoric thralls.

I also included a short section for GMs on running fail-forward chaos without stepping on player agency.

And there's also an original Main Theme track, composed by Luca Salis (who some may know from his incredible Sly Cooper cinematic tribute). It’s jazzy, slick, and mischievous in the best way:

Coming Up

The full book is launching soon on Gamefound as part of their RPG Party showcase and will feature more heists, more Criminal Callings, recurring NPCs, expanded GM tools, and physical rewards like a raccoon personnel file, cocktail card, and doomsday device blueprints (not real... probably).

Trenchcoat Raccoons is a game where disaster becomes the way forward. It started at convention one-shots, where you never know who you will play with, and I wanted to turn potential mismatches into fun and memorable sparks. After a while people started asking for 'that raccoon game,' so I gathered up all the scribbled notes, binged Sly Cooper (like I needed another excuse to do that), and spent the next few months polishing it until it felt ready. My aim was play that feels wild and unhinged but stays safe and creative while allowing for player agency. A mindset I hope people can carry into their 'more serious' games too. There’s a lot of that. But mostly, it’s raccoons. And glorious, ridiculous chaos.
