Monster Truckers: Finally a Trucking Game Starring Monsters
Explore the Post Apocalyptic Worstlands as a Truck Driving Monster
Just Launched on Backerkit and running through June 3, 2025, Monster Truckers: Long Haul into the Worstlands is a traditional pen-and-paper tabletop role playing game featuring players taking the roles of truck driving monsters. It's inspired by '70s trucker movies and culture, classic movie monsters, a bit of Adventure Time and Mad Max, and the freewheeling freedom that was once promised to be out on the open road.
The monsters of Monster Truckers get in their big rigs and explore strange locations, meet odd folks, and face terrible dangers all while trying to make their deliveries on time.
Welcome to the Worstlands
The Worstlands are what's left of the world after it went rotten. It's a wild and dangerous place. Only the strongest and most daring (or foolish and most desperate) attempt to cross it. That’s where monster folk come in, they’re tough enough to be long haul truckers who deliver cargo and scout the weird and rough Worstlands.
Playing Monster Truckers
Monster Truckers requires a standard set of dice, some paper and a pencil, 2 to 5 players, and several hours of time to play.
Mechanics are based on the easy to learn and run Tricube Tales system, which features simple d6 based mechanics that encourage fast and fun action and leaves plenty of room for role playing and improvisation.
There are also some extra parts to theme the game more towards trucking and exploration:
The Log Book: Truckers track the adventure a logbook in short form journaling.
Mapping: Truckers also create a map of their adventure that that links to the logbook.
Both the log book and map are a fun form of short form journaling and they can also be used by in universe undead Highway Patrol to crack down on the truckers if (and when) they get pulled over!
