Shadow / Giant, the two-player TTRPG about a jaded adult and the traumatized, supernatural child now under their care, is coming to Kickstarter for a major update and print run!

Building off of touchstones such as Marvel's Logan, Stranger Things, The Last of Us, Telltale's The Walking Dead, Bioshock, and God of War, Shadow / Giant is coming back with enhanced mechanics and a host of oracles and pre-generated content. 2e features brand new, custom art & some very exciting, soon-to-be-announced guest writers! Working with a diverse and all-queer writing team, Shadow / Giant 2e aims to bring often-neglected variety to the wolf & cub trope.

Suited to movie-like one-shots or TV drama-like campaign play, players explore the question of whether the Giant can bring the Shadow somewhere safe before the threat hunting them catches up. This game can be set in one of the provided settings spanning genres like sci-fi, dystopian, fantasy, paranormal, and more, or players can follow the guidance in the book to make their own setting with unique locations and a custom threat.

All you need to run Shadow / Giant 2e is two players, a deck of playing cards, and five 6-sided dice for each player.

The Shadow and Giant playbooks are asymmetric, meaning they each have a unique conflict-resolution mechanic they use to interact with the world. The Shadow uses their abilities by building dice towers and knocking them down, always trying to balance power and gentleness. Meanwhile, the Giant uses a Yahtzee-like rolling and rerolling system to try and make good combinations of dice, potentially risking a dramatic failure by aiming for higher levels of success. Both must handle frequent complications from the playbooks' individual oracles.
