"Sulay Rally Raid - A Solo Rallyraid RPG" Has Drifted Onto Itch.io
Drift mountain passes, run from war-drones and find God in this 1-to-2 player rallyraid journaling game.
Inspired in equal parts by racing games like Art of Rally and Slipstream, as well as journaling games like Helan and Ech0, Sulay Rally Raid is a journaling RPG for 1 to 2 players in which you and (potentially) a friend take the role of rally drivers (or a rally crew) embarked in an offroad endurance race sprawling across two rival nations in a process of tentative détente.

After a century of intermittent conflict, the Greater Sulay Peninsula of Tau Ceti II seems to be finally at peace. The polities contesting it, a socialist republic known as the Sulay Socialist Assembly and an alliance of Sunni territories known as the Southern Sulay Emirates, seem to have finally come to an understanding - one mainly motivated by widespread exhaustion, cratered economies and dwindling support from their foreign allies both on and offworld.
So, as guns across the land finally fall silent, foreign investors and NGOs move in to uplift and valorize this divided people and their scarred land. This is where you come in, as a driver in the Sulay Rally Raid: a charity rally event held by the Comité Interstellaire de L'Automobile in collaboration with the Babel Foundation. Starting from the Assembly's capital of Kaburgrad, you'll be driving through the trails, hills and active minefields of the peninsula towards the final goal of Nawi Kandahar, the Emirates' capital. Your journey won't be timed, but you'll need to keep a log of your experiences for the purpose of documenting the sights, sounds and potential dangers of this often neglected land - which, for the less ideologically-minded, does include any bar, teahouse or other recreational establishment that might pique one's interest.
Out NOW on itch.io, Sulay Rally Raid comes in 3 trifold pamphlets and a set of driving license-sized character sheets. It's also Data Sparrow's third pay-what-you-want release - which, for the first time, also includes Sulay Rally Trax, the game's companion soundtrack. Scored by returning champions MINIMIS and Luce, Sulay Rally Trax is a 10-track album toeing the line between industrial rock and old-school dubstep, with vocal tracks inspired by Nine Inch Nails' 2007 album Year Zero as the centerpiece to our most mid 2000s record to date.
