For the past three years, I've been recording one-on-one interviews with ordinary RPG players. I've been releasing these interviews as a podcast titled, "The People I Play With"

The purpose of this project is to get away from the commercial side of the hobby and focus on the folk art of real play among real people. I only interview people I've actually played with. I don't interview designers about their own work. It's not a critique or review show. It's purely about the art of play through the lens of individual expression.

While I'm fortunate to have a diverse play circle and eclectic taste in games, I want to showcase more people and more games. I want to hear from the people you play with.

This is a formal invitation to submit your own interviews using the same style and format as my own. There's a comprehensive guidelines and requirements document linked below but here's a couple of highlights:

The Format

  • The recording features just two people.
  • It's an interview, not a discussion. The subject matter is insight into the interviewees approach to play.
  • Both people recently played a complete arc of a tabletop role-playing game together and all questions are posed in the context of that game.
  • The interviewer should briefly describe how they know the interviewee and what was the greater social context for play.
  • Neither participant can have been involved in the game’s design or production nor can the game have been played in the context of some larger entertainment venture (i.e. an AP Show).
  • It’s okay to ask generic ice-breaker or closing questions as long as they are focused on the interviewee’s approach and interest in rpgs.
  • The interview is not a critique or review of the game.

If you find these guidelines intriguing, I hope you'll consider participating. You can read the full set of guidelines and requirements here:
