Eurydice Games make their 7,000th FlickFleet box, all made in a garage in York, UK
Craft games company have sold over 1/3rd of a million pounds of self-made games
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK: Eurydice Games Ltd, a tabletop gaming company specialising in fast, fun games have completed their 7,000th FlickFleet box. The base game and six expansions for FlickFleet have all been made on a laser-cutter in designer Paul Willcox’s garage. Eurydice Director Paul Willcox said, “Manufacturing and constructing over 7,000 boxes worth of FlickFleet components by hand in my garage is a staggering achievement! I had no idea what a laser-cutter even looked like when we started eight years ago; learning how to use it well has been a fantastic, if at times stressful, journey. I've enjoyed every minute of it and hope each box is bringing joy to its recipient!”.
Eurydice Director Jackson Pope said, “In an industry with a lot of indie companies, we are unusual in that we make the game ourselves, on a laser-cutter in Paul’s garage. Each year we’ve released a new expansion through crowdfunding, but rolled up reprints of everything into a single large print run, which has allowed us to reduce costs by placing one large order with each of our suppliers. As a result, we’ve been able to release a vast range of ship models, which would have required huge print runs and capital to fund through traditional injection moulding manufacturing in China.”
Rated 7.9 on BoardGameGeek.com, FlickFleet has a cult following of fans who keep coming back for more. Tony Mastrangeli of BoardGameQuest said in his review of FlickFleet, “A fantastic, dexterity-based skirmish game that just hits all the right notes.”
