Steve Jackson Games Announces Toon Second Edition
A new edition of Toon: The Cartoon Roleplaying Game is coming to BackerKit!
It’s time to get silly – Toon Second Edition will soon launch on BackerKit!
In 1984, Steve Jackson Games released Toon: The Cartoon Roleplaying Game. Just over 40 years from the original release and 20 years after the most recent supplement, a new edition will be crowdfunded. Fans can look forward to everything they loved from the first books, and lots more!Designed by Greg Costikyan and developed by Warren Spector, Toon is all about the classic slapstick and the ridiculous logic of cartoons. Zaniness abounds as players become the characters of their choice – a playful platypus, a lighthearted lion, a malignant mailman, or whatever they’d like to be. A falling grand piano may flatten them, dynamite could disintegrate them . . . Fear not! Everyone may Fall Down, but no one will ever die, and they’ll be right back and ready to go in the next scene.
In this new edition, character design has been simplified, the game’s Silly Tables are more profuse and sillier, and there are over a dozen customizable adventures. GMs – here known as Animators – will find an abundance of advice for side-splitting campaigns. The revisor for this edition was Steve Jackson, with invaluable aid from Jay Dragon. The original illustrator, Kyle Miller, has returned, and now his cartoons are color!
Toon offers an entry-level roleplaying experience for the whole family, ages six and up. The crowdfunding campaign will feature several pledge levels, where fans can choose between a PDF, a softcover book, or a hardcover book.
