From the mightiest of dragons to the tiniest of woodland beasts, and from killer robots to sentient energy-sucking clouds, this new book launching on Kickstarter contains the game statistics for a plethora of fantasy, modern, and science fiction creatures for the Wʜᴀᴛ’s OLD ɪs NEW roleplaying game.
Wʜᴀᴛ’s OLD ɪs NEW is a flexible game system which focuses on three genres: traditional fantasy, explosive modern action, and futuristic sci-fi. It is supported by a wide range of sourcebooks, worlds, and adventures.
Wʜᴀᴛ’s OLD ɪs NEW uses a d6 dice pool system vs. a difficulty benchmark. The game only uses d6s. Characters are created using a life-path system. After choosing a heritage, players choose an origin career, followed by four further careers. Each adds to attributes and skills, and grants specific exploits.
Designed as a toolkit oriented game system, you are encouraged to design your own content using the extensive guidelines found in each of the core books, and now the bestiary.
The NPCs, beasts, monsters and villians in this book are compatible with medieval fantasy, contemporary action, and future sci-fi, but may not be thematically suitable for all settings and campaigns. This is why Chapter 4 of the W.O.I.N Bestiary teaches game masters how to customise the monsters found in the book to suit their own settings. Chapter 5 of the book goes one step further and walks readers through designing their own monsters from scratch.
