Mars Watch is live on Kickstarter with less than a week to go
Revised 2nd ed of The Watch nearing the finish line
Mars Watch, a revised almost-tenth-anniversary 2nd edition of Ash Kreider's award-winning TTRPG The Watch (2017 Indie Game of the Year and 2018 Nominee for an Indie Groundbreaker Best Art Award) is live on Kickstarter with less than a week to go!
In Mars Watch, you’ll play the story of a military campaign against the Radiance - a paper-thin allegory for patriarchy and violent white supremacy. In this campaign, you're not playing to find out if you win. You're playing to find out what it will cost, and which of you will still be alive when it's all over.
In addition to rules revisions and clarifications, Mars Watch has
- An all-new setting, with three included campaign scenarios
- New villains: the Shadow is now the Radiance, which is alternately fought and aided by the Mega-corporations.
- A future-forward take on gender that won't grow outdated, including mechanics more inclusive of non-binary trans mascs and trans men
- A new playbook: The Stag - one of the few male members of Mars Watch, and the only playbook explicitly about gender. The Stag focuses on caring for others and trying to build positive masculinity.
- 1000% less chill about patriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism
The story you'll tell:
It’s been one hundred and fifty years since Mars was cut off from Earth after a colossal Kessler Syndrome that rendered space travel to Earth effectively impossible. But Martian society has persevered, grown, and flourished, creating a rich culture and a fulfilling way of life.
And then the Radiance came.
Six months ago, a meteor crashed between the eastern colonies of Aurorae and Capri, creating a crater 500 meters across. The meteor emitted a form of radiation never before encountered, causing the men of Aurorae and Capri to go berserk, attacking anything and everything around them with shocking violence. The survivors fled through the underground tunnels to neighboring Eos and Daga Terminus, unfortunately bringing the contamination with them. The advance was only halted when the desperate colonists collapsed the choke point of Coprates Chasma, along with the tunnels that ran underneath it.
Colonial governments have been dissolved, united under the banner of the newly formed Mars Watch - the first ever pan-Martian military force. With no hope of outside assistance, Mars Watch must do what it can to hold the line.
