WARLOCK and Exodus speak volumes about Wizards of the Coast’s video game ambitions
Exactly what meets the eye.
It’s hard to miss Wizards of the Coast (WotC)’s naked ambitions to replicate the prolific — and might I add, extremely profitable — success of Baldur’s Gate 3. For one, there seems to be a concerted effort by WotC to extend their tabletop properties towards video games. There’s Giant Skull, a studio founded by Stig Asmussen of God of War 3 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order fame, which will be developing an as-of-yet untitled Dungeons & Dragons game. Canadian-based Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc. exists solely to support the reportedly dozens of digital projects in the works. And then there are two more games that’ll be published by WotC, as announced at The Game Awards last December: WARLOCK from Invoke Studios, and Exodus by Archetype Entertainment.
