The TTRPG creators of BlackwaterDnD are ravenous to present a new limited run, audio-only actual play series, Sin Eater: Absolution, using the indie journaling ttrpg, Sin Eater, originally created by Anica Cihla of Atticus Haus, and published by Hunter’s Entertainment. Sin Eater: Absolution is the first official actual play of the game, released in conjunction with the game’s Kickstarter. This series is sponsored by HeroForge and Hunter’s Entertainment, and will be released publicly on May 9th, 2025, with episodes dropping biweekly.

Sin Eater is a solo-journalling ttrpg, where one player becomes the Sin Eater, using the prompts for the game to tell a story about the sins they consume. However, for this AP, we chose to extend upon the mechanics, with Jess Lupini playing our Sin Eater, and Adam Lucas playing the Journal, allowing for unmatched character exploration while portraying the mechanics for optimal listening and cohesion of the narrative.

This story welcomes us to the world of Shura, a bleak and desolate city where the dead refuse to move on unless shepherded to their rest. While soultending is the accepted route, with last rites performed by the clergy, sin eating is a way for those surrounding the dead to keep their secrets. A Sin Eater is hired to eat a meal with the deceased, and cleanse the soul of its sins, with the hope that those delectable secrets stay buried. We dive headfirst into a dark, gothic horror setting where listeners join our Sin Eater at the table, asking themselves: how far would you go for absolution?

So join us for a meal, won’t you? We hope you brought your appetite.
