Dungeon Scrawl, an easy-to-use browser-based mapmaking app for TTRPGs, just launched an instant map generator that’s free to use, with no login required.

For every GM who’s ever had a party announce mid-session that they're heading somewhere completely unplanned for, who is rushing to prepare a game for their group, or who has a hard time starting a new project from a blank grid, this is the solution.

To use it, visit Dungeon Scrawl, open the Random Dungeon panel from the left sidebar, and hit Generate Dungeon. A fully explorable, gridded dungeon map will appear instantly.

The feature uses procedural generation (not AI) to build maps based on adjustable input criteria, so every result is different, and can be re-generated as many times as it takes to get a map that works for your game.

You can adjust the overall map size and layout style, room count, size, and shape, the corridor length and width, and more. Plus, every map is fully editable, so it works just as well as a starting point for creative building as it does as a finished product for those looking for an old-school-style map.

Export finished maps to use on any VTT, or for in-person games: print or use the Send to Tabletop tool to broadcast to a TV or Monitor.

Random Dungeons are live in beta on Dungeon Scrawl now, and the team is soliciting feedback from a form inside the tool.
