Sine is a new Tabletop roleplaying game of exploration in a familiar, yet new world. Set on Earth in an alternate future where humanity has been all-but-obliterated by a strange alien race known as the Stock. You take on the role of a Catalyst, a genetically engineered super-soldier clone, whose mission is to help reestablish human society twenty years after the initial invasion.

The world of Sine was created by improv comedians Jason Ox and Julian Frid, who wanted to create an easy-entry system focused on fun and cinematic experiences. Our Kickstarter consists of two main books, a Player book and Handler book. The Player book will cover Character creation, world details with the fundamentals of improv and story-telling. The Handler Book is a treasure-trove of tips, tricks and structures on how to engage your players and build a Sine mission. The Handler book is also the repository of lore, including Factions, Xenos, Seers and more.

Everything is fully written, designed, tested and ready to go! Except for art. Because we suck at art and refuse to use ai. All our beautiful words will be available to backers as a working draft PDF shortly after the end of the campaign, with a second art-filled one to follow.

But, you might be asking yourself; Why Sine? Great question dear reader. Here's a list of what makes Sine special:

  1. Easy to learn: Sine uses a simple D6 system that makes you feel like you’re a part of a high-budget television show.
  2. Familiar: The world of Sine is one you know already. Missions set in your local neighborhood allow you to decide how the world has changed since the Stock Invasion.
  3. Collaborative: Sine aims to be a shared world, where players can add Catalyst designs to an ongoing database, and submit mission summaries to be added to a logbook.
  4. We need you: We are far from a multi-million dollar company using a crowdfunding site as a way to avoid upfront costs. We’re a small (literally two people) group of creatives who want to share a world with you and your friends. Helping us here can ensure we can continue to build great stories together.

Sine systems are simple and straightforward. We focus on cinematic storytelling, making it easy for new players to pick up and rewarding for TTRPG veterans. The mechanical rules outlined in this book are meant to guide this experience, but should never overshadow the core of what makes Sine special: the storytelling. Characters follow the familiar 6 Stat breakdown popular in many TTRPG’s. Your Character’s Pursuit reflects their history and creates a pool of expertise to pull from. Skills are the specific moves, maneuvers and talents your Character excels at, and add a +1 to your roll. While the Player Sourcebook has examples, we also provide tools to create your own so that you can craft the Character you want.

The dice needed for play are only a D6 for Actions and a D20 for Luck. Roll your D6 and add it to the related Stat to see where you land on the Sine Scale. You and your Handler use this to describe the Quality of the outcome.

The clearest way to understand the world of Sine is to ask two simple questions: what feels real and what feels fun? What would your character truly do in this moment? What risks would they take? What lines would they refuse to cross? If a choice, action, or direction feels exciting, dramatic, or meaningful, lean into it. Momentum and emotion matter more than strict adherence to mechanics.
