The game begins with you and your friends nearly dying. The spotlight falls on the rusty van that almost drove you off the road. It swerves back and forth between both lanes as it leaves you there frozen on the empty highway. One of the unlucky souls must call in the incident...1(539)204-4910.

How's My Driving? Mockup

How's My Driving? is built to emulate classic slasher & action-thriller movies. It's zero HP, highly lethal mechanics are balanced with Life & Death Moves that elongate the chase and make death meaningful. The highway is the only chance to get out of this alive, but stops are inevitable on the seemingly endless stretch. Tension ratchets as players' capabilities slowly deplete while roll target numbers inch upward until the final Homestretch.

Perhaps my favorite part about How's My Driving? is how much it leans into the fun tropes of the genre. Statless characters are created with their Triple A (Archetype, Appearance, and Approaches).

The Archetypes come with a mechanical benefit and a drawback to match.

Appearance has you face cast a public figure - an actor, musician, or influencer - describe your overall vibes, and gain fuel points. Finally list three Mementos and write a past experience tied to the items, which can then give you +2 on rolls where the experience may come into play.

Approaches can be randomly rolled or chosen and feature a list. Some examples include 'Do Violence', 'Be Hot', 'Defensive Driving', 'Be Reckless', and 'Make a Plan'.

THE JACKET. You are the coolest person in the group - and you have a slick jacket. Mechanical Benefit: REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. Drawback: TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL

For the rest of the synopsis, I think Jack did it best. Here's what to expect from How's My Driving?:

QUICK TO TABLE, FUN TO PLAY
You are being chased by an unkillable slasher villain, you can stop him but only long enough to get back on the road. Grounded characters and lots of horror movie genre emulation. Perfect for one-shots.

CLASSIC TROPES
Pick from 10 different  horror movie archetypes, including: THE BADDIE, THE GEEZER, THE JACKET,  THE LOVERBOY, THE GROUP MOM, THE DUDE, THE VIRGIN, THE FIXER, THE KID, THE MUSCLE.

2d12 NARRATIVE DICE SYSTEM
A hack of the Duality Dice from DAGGERHEART, your DRIVE DICE grant you FUEL and and your GM FEAR, narrative currencies that create a dynamic tug of war of the narrative.

NO HIT POINTS
Anything that could kill you - will kill you. Instead if you would get hurt you must either: Spend a FUEL POINT, Reduce your  FUEL DIE, or increase THE SPEED LIMIT to narrowly escape death.

ROAD RAGE ROAD TRIP
Between narrative beats of horrific danger are small moments built to emulate the downtime of a long car trip across an empty landscape. Pick out your ride and pack it with gear you need to survive.

A REAL PHONE NUMBER
In order to start the game, one player must call in some dastardly driving and leave a voice mail.  I PROMISE NO ONE WILL ANSWER.

How's My Driving? comes from the mind of Jack Panic (DNGN CLUB) and is being brought into print by Spicy Tuna RPG.
