Do It Ourself Publishing is now accepting submissions for the XXX Roleplaying Game Missive, a zine for small roleplaying games focused on sex and sexuality. Inspired by the proliferation of adult games (and the rising tide of censorship), this zine works to accelerate and enhance the conversation around XXX RPGs by creating a space for iterating on ideas and an audience interested in the results. Additionally, DIO is recruiting volunteer peer reviewers to ensure submissions are reviewed fairly and from multiple perspectives.

Submit Your Game to the XXX Missive

The XXX Roleplaying Game Missive is for journaling games, LARPs, TTRPGs, or anything of the sort that can fit on 4 letter pages. DIO is particularly interested in games that engage with sex mechanically without being reductive, explore unconventional and orthogonal perspectives, and directly expose players to the appeal of their approach. In this way, DIO hopes to cultivate a robust and diverse array of XXX games from voices at all levels of experience.

Share Your Expertise with DIO

To ensure no individual perspective dominates their publications, DIO is seeking volunteer peer reviewers to read and provide feedback on submissions. Originating in scientific publishing, peer review is the process of asking other experts about the quality of a manuscript. However, peer review demands a significant amount of labor, so DIO refuses to cold-call known designers for their opinions. Instead, they ask interested designers and critics to register as volunteer peer reviewers. No firm commitment is made by signing up; it is merely indicating that you are willing to assist if time & energy allows. Peer reviewers will evaluate the merits of submissions, providing a brief summary and recommendation to the editor. All skill levels are welcome; so long as you have an interest in engaging critically with games and a desire to give good feedback, DIO would be happy to have you as a peer reviewer.
