Petmon is the culmination of over five years of development. Starting as the outline of a fanhack using Chuubo’s Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine, Petmon evolved into its own story-driven, narrative, diceless digimon-inspired Tabletop Roleplaying Game.

Every player has two characters: their own Chosen Child and someone else’s Petmon. Chosen Children are young kids brought to the Monster World to save it from a calamity. They embody a virtue of the Light and draw power from it, but are constantly tempted by the easy path of the Power of Darkness. When they arrive, they get their own Petmon, a pet monster. Petmon are not played by the same player as the Chosen Child. Another play at the table plays that Petmon. This split ensures that the group can focus on different Chosen Children each episode – which is important to the “Focus Episode” mechanic behind advancement – without anyone ever feeling left out.

Far Horizon has been a wonderful publisher for me over the years. Their business model of ensuring no one profits from the excess labor of others is noble. As a creator, it feels good knowing that my team will all share in the success of this bold, new title. We are using a bit of a new team from my prior games. We have Bri de Danann and Carly A-F as our lead artists. Falco is once again handling layout. I believe in this team and I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished so far.

Petmon has already had two, multi-year playtesting campaigns. The text of the game has been edited and proofed. The game is in a complete state, sans some art assets and layout. The Kickstarter is to fund further art assets and improve the quality of the visuals for the game. The game itself is already done and you will receive access to the text of the game shortly after campaign completion.

Petmon is offering its PDF copy for $20 USD. The Print Copy At-Cost coupon is being offered at $30 on the Kickstarter. The full release prices have not been decided yet. However, there will be savings for anyone who invests in the kickstarters over waiting for its release on DrivethruRPG. Similarly, my prior games – Friendship, Effort, Victory & We Dig Giant Robots – are being offered at a discount during the Kickstarter as an add-on.

We hope you are willing to take the digital plunge with us and travel to another world of monsters, friendship, hardship, and personal growth.
