Pilot Episode is now Live!
This is a community submitted press release.
It's the 1950s and you are filming the pilot episode of a new sitcom. There's just one problem: the film set and crew has disappeared. Instead, it seems that the world of the sitcom has come to life and has a far more demanding Audience...

Pilot Episode is a new gmless ttrpg from SmallRedRobin13 Games, currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The game is a hack of Time To Drop where you play the cast of a new sitcom, trapped in the world and forced to play out their roles until the audience is satisfied. Pilot Episode is inspired by classic 1950s sitcoms such as I Love Lucy and Leave It To Beaver.

Pilot Episode is a love letter to sitcoms in general, drawing from the slapstick sitcoms of the 50s and the character tropes of sitcoms from later generations. It also ultilizes eldritch horror to indicate the external presses the cast might face as they struggle to survive and escape from this warped 50s world.

On a deeper level, Pilot Episode explores the inherent horror of being trapped in a world where everything is sanitized and reset, regardless of the events of the last episode. It also explores how these sitcoms (in some cases literally) whitewashed the tumultuous events of the 50s and the lives of the actors in the sitcoms. I Love Lucy in particular was frequently subjected to this, with execs nixing the use of the word 'pregnant' on the show and the show concealing the truth about Lucille and Desi's rocky marriage.

To make Pilot Episode happen, the Kickstarter is looking to raise $4000 aud. This money will be used to fund a short print run and a unique sitcom-themed soundtrack for the game, which is used to determine when episodes begin and end. The first five minutes of the soundtrack are available to listen on the Kickstarter. The Kickstarter began on the 1st of February and will end on the 3rd of March.
