The Gang Offers a Discounted Subscription Bundle
Five other outlets, creators, and journalists are joining Rascal to build something bigger.
Worker-owned and independent journalism has surged in the last few years, offering refuge and second chances to an entire class of writers, critics, and reporters done dirty by corporate-owned media. We've survived and grown thanks in large part to your support, but there will soon come a point when survival is not enough.
That's why we've teamed with several likeminded outfits to offer the Independent Media Collective Bundle. With it, you can grab 30 days of access to Rascal, Never Post, Aftermath, and Rogue at 50% off. Already supporting us? Our partner in this venture, TrustFund, will automatically discount the cost of that sub from the bundle. Pretty darn handy.
Consider this the first step towards building some shared infrastructure. We all recognize that independent journalists need something more than freedom and merchandise to turn our passion into stable careers, and we are beginning to realize that journey will be easier made together. I've been chatting with the other outlets in this bundle for months, and it's been reassuring to learn from each other and not reinvent the same wheel ad nauseum. We've got more plans in store, but this is a great start.
My hope is that we can offer hands up to other websites, independent journalists, and worker-owned outfits. I'm meeting with, and talking to, new folks constantly: hyperlocal and regional newsrooms, newsletter reporters and bloggers, journalists from every beat and niche and corner of our media ecosystem. Other sites, such as Defector, are also realizing we need stronger support and coalition. I don't know what running a news website looks like on the other side, but I'm heartened to be exploring that future alongside excellent professional peers.
If nothing else, everyone in the Independent Media Collective Bundle is worth your attention and your support. You might see other websites in future bundles! You might see more concrete coalition building from us later this year. It's in the works, and we would love for you to come on this journey with us.
Stay independent, and stay trashy.
