VESPER, AN ART-FIRST FANTASY WORLD SETTING FOR DAGGEHEART, OPENS ITS KICKSTARTER FOLLOW PAGE
The world begins with drawings, and the stories follow.
October 2026 — Wither & Bloom Studios has opened the Kickstarter pre-launch page for Vesper, a forthcoming illustrated fantasy setting for Daggerheart, built through an unusual process: the world begins with drawings, and the stories follow.
Created by artist, educator, and game master Todd Lambrix, Vesper has grown through years of illustration, world building, and tabletop play. Rather than creating a finished setting and commissioning artwork to depict it, Lambrix works in reverse—drawing creatures, landscapes, architecture, artifacts, and characters and allowing the questions raised by those images to shape the world around them.

“You draw a strange tower, a creature, or an object and immediately start asking questions,” Lambrix said. “Who built this? Why is it here? What happened to it? Vesper has grown out of years of following those questions.”

The resulting book will combine heavily illustrated world building with material intended for tabletop play: locations with histories and unresolved conflicts, creatures that suggest encounters, artifacts with consequences, and mysteries designed to become stories at the table.

Vesper is currently being developed with the Daggerheart ecosystem in mind, while the setting itself is being built to exist beyond any single game system. The world has already been explored through actual-play campaigns produced by Wither & Bloom Studios, with those games continuing to influence its development.
The Kickstarter pre-launch page is now live, where readers can follow Vesper and be notified when the crowdfunding campaign launches.
