"The battle was victorious, glorious vengeance was yours. This once great city was felled by your hands, but the Gods grow furious at your blasphemy and have laid a curse of doom and despair over your people."

ATRAPOS is a new tabletop roleplaying game set in a mythic fantasy world where you are cursed for betraying the will of the Gods. Inspired by Greek tragedies and epic poetry, tell the tale of a crew of doomed heroes embarking on a calamitous journey home. Will you succumb to the wrath of the Gods or make a daring attempt to defy their divine will?

The latest game from SoulMuppet Publishing (Orbital Blues, The Stygian Library, Inevitable) takes your characters on an epic journey across wine-dark seas, with the Gods anger at their backs and the dream of home on the horizon.

To stay true to the Greek epics and tragedies that inspire it, Atrapos is a "play-to-lose game", focusing on epic but doomed heroes, impossible deeds and ever escalating stakes.

Atrapos uses the same rules-light D6-based story-game-inspired engine as its sister-game Inevitable, a Doomed Arthurian Western. In Atrapos, your characters are fabled heroes participating in the legends of the downfall of their civilisation, and instead of having stats they have Reputations that show how they are spoken of in the epic stories that will follow.

The campaign is split into single session Labours and multi-session Divine Trials, each of which has a Threat preventing the characters from succeeding. While building towards the climactic Struggle, your characters will enter Challenges, where you build a dice pool by answering questions about your Reputations and the obstacles you face. Following a Challenge, you might gain advantages on your current Labour if you succeed, or have the Threat of the Labour increase if you fail.

At the climatic point of the story, your characters will enter a Struggle against the wrath of the Gods. During a Struggle, you negotiate with the Storyteller about what your character is prepared to lose in this conflict, gaining larger bonuses the more your character is able to sacrifice.

Over the course of the campaign, your Reputations will change as a result of your actions. Will your characters remain steadfast and uphold their ideals in the face of adversity? Or will they sacrifice their values in a hopeless attempt to save themselves and their civilisation?
