Daggerheart and Crooked Moon won big at the 2026 ENNIE Awards
Alongside Legends in the Mist and Dolmenwood, four games took home 20 out of 48 awards.
Earlier this evening, the 2026 ENNIE Awards were granted at Gen Con, and this year Darrington Press’s Daggerheart, Avantris Entertainment’s Crooked Moon, and Son of Oak Game Studio’s Legend in the Mist took home most of the hardware. Avantris Entertainment won 6 awards, including fan favorite publisher and product of the year. Son of Oak also won 6 medals across different categories such as best free product for their learn-to-play adventure in comic form. Darrington Press won a total of 5 medals, taking home both best game and best rules for Daggerheart. The other big winner was Dolmenwood, by Exalted Funeral, which won a gold ENNIE for its folkloric setting, in addition to three other medals.

Beyond the fantasy heartbreakers, a lot of smaller games and independent publishers made waves with the ENNIE voters. Surprising announcements include the gold and silver for online content going to the Designing Dungeons Course: Or, How to Kill a Party in 30 Rooms or Less by Joshua McCrowell & Warren D and the Solo RPG List respectively. Another cool nod goes to the Triangle Agency Fan Zine, which won gold for community content. Tania Herrero was also recognized for her work on the Menagerie of Unbearable Things, a storybook/bestiary/inspiration guide, winning silver for best RPG related product (Herrero is also known for Fomoria, which they are creating in collaboration with Johan Nohr).
Asa Donald’s SPINE won gold for solo game, while The Bonsai Diary by Gene Koo took silver. The gold medal for best writing was given to Keith Ammann’s Making Enemies, a guide to creating antagonists in a variety of systems published by Simon and Schuster. Silver went to Rapscallion, by Whistler, published by Magpie Games, a Powered By the Apocalypse style game of magical pirates. Finally, Chaosium’s RuneQuest was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
