Two Improv Comedians Built a Sci-Fi TTRPG About Rebuilding Earth After the Apocalypse
SINE Kickstarter Launches October 7th, 2026
SINE, an original tabletop roleplaying game created by improv comedians-turned-game designers Jason Ox and Julian Frid, launches on Kickstarter October 7, officially spotlighted as a Kickstarter "Project We Love."
Set twenty years after an alien invasion devastated Earth, SINE casts players as Catalysts — genetically engineered super-soldiers originally created to fight humanity’s invaders. Now returning to a radically transformed planet, their mission has changed: humanity no longer simply needs warriors. It needs help rebuilding civilization.
SINE approaches that premise as a cinematic, character-driven RPG. Its rules are intentionally accessible, emphasizing improvisation, collaborative storytelling, meaningful character choices, and the consequences those choices create.
The game’s creators drew heavily from their backgrounds as experienced improvisers, building SINE not only as a setting for science-fiction adventures but as a toolkit for players and Game Masters interested in creating stories reactively at the table.
SINE has already been extensively written, developed, and playtested. The Kickstarter will fund physical production of the Player’s Sourcebook and Handler’s Sourcebook, alongside equipment cards and other add-ons/stretch goals!
If the campaign reaches 300+ followers prior to its launch, all backers will receive a free digital adventure designed by the co-creators.
