Flitting between worlds, your characters stride through the Shift as the technological wonders of a Cyberpunk city fade away, replaced by the smells of wet hay and fresh baked bread. Welcome to Duality.

Duality is a genre-crossing, 2d6 fail-forward system designed to make your characters feel as strong at your table as they are in your mind. With a focus on mutual storytelling, it features a light framework for narrative-driven speedy and descriptive combat. Let's dive in!

Duality's Core Rulebook includes 4 major genres popular with the TTRPG community: Cyberpunk, High Fantasy, Modern Horror, and the Wild West. With a built-in enemy scaling mechanic, you can run a game for parties of one or one-hundred!*

*Running a game for 100 people can be done, but will significantly change your expected run time far beyond 2 hours. Could be fun though!

Accessibility In Gaming

Duality's Approach

Accessibility in gaming is incredibly important, and starts at home, so we've made it part of the creation process. Duality has been framed around a number of different ideas, and is actively undergoing review for accessibility needs. What does that look like? It starts with, well, getting it wrong. When we brought Duality to PAX Unplugged in late 2025, there were a lot of accessibility features we were excited about, like using a limited/low math base system.

Chatting with the folks from DOTS and Open The Gates gaming, we found out that some of the tools we were using weren't as helpful as we thought; so we changed them.

  • Limited/low math base system
  • Open-ended power creation
  • Employing a "Theater of the Mind" gameplay
  • Creating screen reader friendly character sheets
  • Doing a review of layout for colorblind friendliness

We're working on more too! This is only the start, because games shouldn't be gated. Huge shoutout to the folks from Open The Gates Gaming and the DOTS RPG Project for helping us uncover these accommodations, and work towards better ones!

Worlds Brimming with Adventure

Bringing Two Worlds Together

As a kid playing video games, I was absolutely floored playing Chrono Cross the first time I went through a time portal. Venturing forth to a town I was sure I knew and finding different buildings and NPCs felt so cool, and that feeling has continued through a majority of games I play.

When it came to tabletop though, getting that same feeling meant kit-bashing two systems, or handwaving a lot of rules so that it felt okay. Feeling okay though wasn't quite enough, and after playing games and making supplements for years, I started working on a goofy system to play with my friends at home. Duality was born from this desire for a cohesive system where your characters really felt like they were intended to be in both Worlds at any given time.

Kickstarting a Dream

Turning to the Community

Snag Your Copy

Throughout 4 years of playing games with friends and other folks in the TTRPG community, folks mentioned all the cool things they wanted to do once they got their hands on all the rules. Turns out publishing a book is a costly endeavor, so we turned to Kickstarter, a place where tons of folks have had their dreams funded by those who believe in it. I'm incredibly proud to share that as of 4/30 we hit our funding goal and now have stretch goals in sight for the remaining few days!

Our very first one releases when we hit $4000 funding, where we add a Setting Guide for a Space genre AND play 4 more episodes of our Space Horror game, Delta Shift, featuring an amazing cast.
